The Hockey Sweater

Setting

There is only one setting throughout this short story; however we believe that you should all become very familiar with it. This story takes place in small town, rural Quebec, in the 1940’s. In towns like these, there was virtually no English spoken. French was the one and only language. Farming was almost the only profession. What is really important about small town Quebec is that only three things mattered to the inhabitants of this small town: education, religion, and hockey. When the population was not working, in school, or in church, they were playing hockey. Hockey was a way of life for these people.
